Nevertheless, 28-year-old Yonjo Quiroa from Michigan was arrested and accused of running nine sport-streaming services. The government claimed that he has made a profit of more than $13.000 out of advertising.

The list of the services that were shut down includes sportswwe.com, firstrow.tv, sports95.org, firstrowsports.com, , sports95.net, firstrowsports.net, xonesports.tv, firstrowsports.tv, hq-streams.tv, robplay.tv, soccertvlive.net, sports95.com, sportswwe.net, sportswwe.tv, youwwe.com, and youwwe.net.

As you remember, this wasn’t the first time American government went into action right before the Super Bowl: in 2011, ten similar services had been shut down mere days before the popular sport event was about to start. Nevertheless, for a few founders of such services American authorities seem to be more than overzealous regarding the copyright issues. They also tend to forget a number of “unimportant” details like international legislation and the fact that they have no right to dictate the rules in other countries.

FirstRow’s co-founder pointed out that since we didn’t live in a 3rd-world country, it was up to the court to decide if something was against the law, not to the entertainment industry lobbies. Last month, it started scanning user uploads in order to stop illegal files from going on the website.

The alarming fact is that action isn’t being taken due to the cyberlockers’ fears of a civil lawsuit, as well as the fact that the entertainment industry started using the FBI and police as their weapons of choice. If a founder of a file-sharing service gets arrested, they could face jail sentence for ages while extradition hearings and the final case is heard in court. After few hours, now they officially announced the suspension of affiliate accounts as below.

I noticed this when I tried to check my statistic on my premium Filesonic account and the following announcement displaying on homepage astonished me. Uploading & FileServe also closed.

“All sharing functionality on FileSonic is now disabled. Our service can only be used to upload and retrieve files that you have uploaded personally.”

The day before they were claiming as The Next Generation Files Sharing Service. However they were the leading files sharing service and I used to earn more than 40$ per month and I have earned more than 100$ which were about to payout end of this month.

So finally its bad news for all filesonic uploaders that Filesonic has ended its money making rewards program and nobody will earn anything when anyone download files. A moot point perhaps, since no-one will be downloading files anyway.

While there is no official announcement by the Filesonic, we will keep updating about the matter as we get more news.
